Condition Specific Protocols
Complementary Protocol
for Surgery
Any surgery is a stress for your body and it takes time for
healing to occur. The following protocol is based upon specific
nutrients that have been shown to reduce the time required for
healing and decrease the risk of possible complications post-surgery.
In addition to these physical precautions that you are doing,
your mental attitude might also play an important role in the
outcome of a surgical procedure.
Therefore my first recommendation is:
1) Get as much rest as possible before the surgery and allow
yourself plenty of time to rest after the surgery. Remember,
sometimes you can’t “rush” the healing process.
2) Develop a positive attitude toward the surgery, addressing
any fears and negative thought, often by having a full explanation
and discussion with the surgeon
3) Assure you have communicated clearly with your surgeon, come
to expect the best from the surgery.
Nutritional support:
TO BE TAKEN ONLY UNDER SUPERVISION OF A DOCTOR. Take these doses
for at least a few days before the surgery if possible, until
you are told to eat no food (12-24 hours prior to admission),
at which time you should discontinue all supplements as well.
Resume supplementation when you begin food again.
1. A comprehensive multiple vitamin-mineral is recommended to
assure complete nutrient intakes, including B vitamins that
have proven essential for all wound healing.
Adults: MultiNutrients (CODE MUL27) or Maxxum
Multiples (MAXX 3 or 4): 1 cap. 3 x /day minimum.
Children: take Chewable Pioneer Multiple Vit & Min.
(Code: CHEW4) 1-2 tablets 1-2 x/day
2. A proper antioxidant combination should have the entire complex
of key healing nutrients, including Vit. C, Vit. E, Vit. A,
Zinc & Copper.
Advanced AntiOxidant (Code: ANTI3): 1 tablet
2 times per day.
For Children: take Chewable OxyBears (Code:
OXYBE): 1 tablet 2-3 times per day
Homeopathy:
Homeopathic remedies will not interfere with any other medication;
many people find a need for less pain killers and anti-inflammatory
medication.
Traumeel (Code: TRAU3): 1 pellet dissolved under your
tongue away from food 3-5 X per day after surgery. This is a
general combination homeopathic that can be used anytime there
is a trauma or injury. Dose as often as your pain/inflammation
requires for relief (up to 5 per day).
Additional Anti-Inflammatory Support:
Bromelain is a plant-based enzyme that acts to “clean-up”
excess inflammation. It is best taken away from food. High strength
Bromelain can be taken alone for anti-inflammatory effect, or
in conjunction with NSAIDS to decrease the overall NSAID requirement.
Bromelain 24/36 (Code BROM8): Take 1-2 capsules
two to four times daily between meals to control inflammation
OR take one bromelain with an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen
as needed for pain.
